Douglas Ivy (age 70)

Douglas “Duck” Ivy was born December 2, 1949, in Oak Ridge, TN to the union of the late Charlie S. and Ruby Mae Young Ivy. He was granted eternal rest on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at The Waters of Clinton in Clinton, TN.

He attended Scarboro Elementary, Robertsville Jr, High and graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1967. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army. “Duck” was employed by TVA and Hardees for many years.

Having confessed Christ as his personal savior, he was baptized into the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late Rev. C.C. Fuller. As a member of Mt. Zion, he served as a member of the Mass Choir, Monday Evening Study Session and the Men’s Usher Board. Douglas enjoyed cooking, traveling and spoiling his nieces and nephews.

Along with parents, Douglas is preceded in death by his brothers, C. S., Larry and Robert; sisters, Ruby Lee Capers and Marie Ivy and nephew, Charles Ivy.

He leaves to mourn his passing: sister, Sue Jones of Oak Ridge, TN; nieces and nephews: devoted niece Cindy Ivy, Oak Ridge, TN, Stacey (Terrell) Ayers, Coon Rapids, MN, Christopher (JoAnn) Capers, Battle Creek, MI, Elder Mark (Chevelle) Capers, Nashville, TN, Carmen Jones, Kannapolis, NC, Lloyd (Christy) Jones lll, Oak Ridge, TN, Ramona (Booker) Leslie, Charlotte, NC, Stephani (Mark) Murphy, Columbus, OH, Daniel and Taylor Ivy and Rashawn Freeman, Oak Ridge, TN; sisters-in-law, Cherry Ivy, Oak Ridge, TN and Marie Ivy, Clinton, TN; great nieces and nephews Keanna Fajemirokun, Ticida Ayers, Terrell (Mandy) Ayers, Nicolas (Kayla) Jones, Tyrece Irons, Brooklyn Leslie, Trey (Chrissy) Jones, Kyler Jones, Arianna Jones, Chas Ivy, Chalmers Ivy, Charles Dawson, Eliya Capers, Brent Capers, Michael Hall, Malaysia Capers, Christopher Capers, Jr, Kaleb Glasper, Tyana Ayers; God children: Robert Buckmon and Shalaya Carpenter; special friends: “Wing Nite Crew”, Trina Harris, Carnell Henderson, Laquitta Carpenter, Deborah Booker, Barbara Spratling and a host of family and friends.

Friday, June 19, 2020, a private interment will take place at East TN Veterans Cemetery where military honors will conclude the service.

Friday, June 19, 2020, the family will receive friends from 6 to 6:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 195 Wilberforce Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
