Mayor-Elect and Mayor Rogero Big Events Monday morning

Mayor-elect Indya Kincannon will announce support staff at 9 am on Monday.

KNOXVILLE, TN (Dec. 6, 2019) – Mayor-elect Kincannon will be announcing additional cabinet appointments, including those in deputy positions at 9 am, Monday, December 9th, in the foyer outside of the Main Assembly Room at the City County Building (400 Main St SW, Knoxville, TN 37902). Mayor-Elect Kincannon and the new appointees will be available Monday morning from 9 – 9:30 am interviews.

At 10 am, on the 5th floor of the City County Building, Mayor Madeline Rogero, Knoxville’s 68th and first woman mayor, will gather with family members and former Knoxville mayors to unveil her official mayoral portrait at a ceremony on Monday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m. in the Fifth Floor Atrium of the City County Building.

Mayor Rogero’s portrait, painted by Carl Hess, joins the gallery of 38 of Knoxville’s former mayors on display. Hess also painted Mayor Daniel Brown’s official mayoral portrait, which was presented at an event in June 2012.

Vice Mayor Finbarr Saunders will serve as emcee. Knoxville History Project Executive Director Jack Neely will provide an overview of the lineage of Knoxville’s mayors and a preview of the Knoxville History Project’s forthcoming book. Art conservator Andrew Hurst will speak about the process of restoring the portraits. Hess will also speak.

After the unveiling, guests are invited to stay for a reception.
