Memphis – Alma Jean Arnold Carter, born January 13, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Mrs. Annice McEwen Arnold and raised in Memphis, Tennessee by her grandparents after the death of her mother. She went home to be with the Lord, November 1, 2019 at Memorial Hospital, Hixson, Tennessee.
Preceded in death by, husband, Eugene R. Carter, Sr.; mother and grandparents, Cleora Thomas McEwen and Elvridge McEwen, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories; devoted sons, Jerryl Arnold, Memphis, TN., Pastor Eugene (Sherrine) Carter, Jr., Powell, TN and Brett (Jovette) Carter, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, LaToya Hyde, Tiffany Nicole Carter-Stewart, Eugene R. Carter, III (Tre’), Brittany Mechele Carter; great-grandchildren, Ava, Kingston and Maxwell Stewart, Bryan Yancey, Brandon Davis and Desire’ Hogan. God-children: Ms. Karen Fletcher, Mrs. Michelle Winston, Ms. Shandal Scoville and Mrs. Sandra Brumfield Harris; a host of cousins, extended family members, Gamma Theta Sigma Sorority and friends and co-workers too numerous to name.
Funeral arrangements: Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 noon; funeral service, 12:00 noon, Rev. Samuel Jackson, Pastor.
Interment Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, TN.
