Maryville Climate March, Sept. 20
On September 20, three days before the UN Climate Summit in NYC, young people and
adults will march all across the US and world to demand transformative action be taken
to address the climate crisis. This is part of the Global Climate Strike heralded by Greta
Thunberg and leading youth strikers, who have asked adults to join them in the streets
to make a public declaration that more must be done.
As of Sept 6, there are over 2500 events scheduled in 117 countries.
Climate strikes were started by school students organizing through
the #FridaysForFuture platform. This Global Climate Strike mobilization is a joint
response by a broad coalition of groups, NGOs, unions and social movements across
the world to young people’s call to demand that their governments immediately provide
a safe pathway to stay below a maximum temperature rise of 1.5C.
