The Black Voters Matter Capacity Building Institute of Tennessee team returns to Knoxville today, Monday, Aug. 25, for 2-days to share knowledge and information to interested local political activists in an interactive exchange.

The BVM team is scheduled to arrive around 10 am. today at 5-Points New Harvest Plaza in East Knoxville where their arrival will be noticed by an impressive black tour bus parked at the plaza.

The team will conduct interactive informational sessions over the next 2-days with interested members of the community. For times and locations, contact a member of CCM; or facebook City Council Movement; or email citycouncilmovement@gmail.com.

The effectiveness of CCM was recognized by local political pundits and media outlets as a rising, effective political force in its first involvement in the 2017 council election. It seated one dedicated council candidate; and is supporting 3 more viable Council candidates in the upcoming August 27, 2019 primary.

Five council seats will be filled in this election cycle. CCM supports 3 viable City Council candidates on the 2019 ballot. They are David Alex Hayes, Charles Al-Bawi, and again Amelia Parker whose second run may be the charm.

During the 2019 election cycle, local media outlets have ignored CCM, although it continues to gain ground and support from organizations and those who desire unbiased governance that shares resources fairly throughout the city under a “Knoxville 4 All” slogan.

The CCM group was not a-flash-in-the-pan. With or without wide stream media support, it has continued to grow and organize from past experiences, connect with statewide organizations and benefactors that share their mission, and most importantly you; the disenfranchised voters whose needs have been ignored.

The mission of CCM is: “to strengthen residents’ political power by holding elected officials accountable via organizing, education and participatory democracy.”

The BVM organization was co-founded by Cliff Albright and LaTosha Brown with the mission to; daily enforce the importance of voting; increase and empower voters in marginalized and black communities. BVM works throughout the year, to help marginalized communities realize the power of their VOTE within the state of Tennessee. To connect go to; BVMcapacitybuilding.org; or facebook.
