TENNESSEE — Fossil fuels are more expensive every day. TVA could be a leader in renewable clean energy and real climate solutions. It’s time to invest in clean energy. Future plans are to swap fossil fuels from coal pits to gas pipelines only delays the inevitable transition to affordable, healthier, available clean energy resources.
The Clean Up TVA Coalition will launch on April 5th, 2022 just ahead of the TVA Board confirmation hearings in Congress, demanding immediate action from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to cut carbon emissions and transition to a fossil-fuel-free and just energy future by 2030.
Coalition partners include the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Appalachian Voices, Sierra Club, Sunrise Knoxville, Sunrise Nashville, Center for Biological Diversity, Sowing Justice, Statewide Organizing for Community Empowerment (SOCM), Knoxville Democratic Socialists of America, Energy Alabama, Tennessee Interfaith Power and Light, Memphis NAACP, and One Knox Legacy Coalition.
