KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (February 17, 2018) – The Knox County Board of Education will be hiring a new leader to assume the role of Superintendent of Schools. A key part of this process has been to provide everyone an opportunity to be heard. Dr. Tammy Grissom, Executive Director of the Tennessee School Boards Association, led a process to gather community input and views about the issues and challenges facing our school system and community. Additionally, stakeholders were encouraged to share their thoughts in an online survey, which closed on Dec. 3, 2021.
The two finalists in the superintendent search answered questions from the public and the Board of Education in a community forum on Feb. 17th, at Bearden Middle School. as the search enters its final phase. The finalists are:
- Dr. Linda Cash, director of schools in Bradley County, Tenn.; and
- Dr. Jon Rysewyk, assistant superintendent and chief academic officer at Knox County Schools.
