KNXOVILLE, TN (August 23, 2021) – The United Way of Greater Knoxville is hosting an informational meeting and mixer for interested Black-led and non-profit organizations serving disenfranchised communities in Knox County.
The meeting will be from 5:30 to 7 pm, Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Change Center, 203 Harriet Tubman St. Knoxville.
Representatives will explain the fund’s priorities and a walk through the application process, followed by an interactive Q&A; and networking among attendees and facilitators with snacks provided.

The United Way of Greater Knoxville, the City of Knoxville and Knox County governments, has launched a Community Healing Fund to provide resources to black-led organizations in response to recent gun violence and tragic events.
Seed funds of $100,000 from United Way of Greater Knoxville, $50,000 from the City of Knoxville, and $50,000 from Knox County, will start the fund with a $200,000 balance that will continue to grow. Funds will be directed to support black-led nonprofit organizations doing violence interruption programming and youth and family enrichment and development work.
Key community leaders are participants in the grant application process, how to disburse, and where an investment would be most effective for the community. 100% of donations support the agencies and organizations selected to receive funding.
