Nathan Langlois Appointed Director of Advancement and Diversity
Nathan Langlois has been appointed Director of Advancement and Diversity for Knox County Schools. Mr. Langlois joined the district in 2011 as assistant principal at Powell High School.
Mr. Langlois previously taught in Cobb County, Georgia and served as an administrative assistant and assistant principal in Georgia. He was selected to be part of the Leadership Academy in 2013 and placed at Hardin Valley Academy as an assistant principal. He has served as principal of Powell High School and in 2015 was named principal of Austin-East High School, where he currently serves.
Mr. Langlois holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Western Michigan University, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Jacksonville State University, and an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Tennessee.
Briana Hinton Appointed Title IX Coordinator/Compliance Officer
Briana Hinton has been appointed Title IX Coordinator/Compliance Officer effective May 2021. Ms. Hinton joins Knox County Schools from Raleigh, NC.
Ms. Hinton has experience in risk mitigation and employment discrimination working and interning for various organizations including the Women’s Legal Centre in South Africa, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C., Sallie Mae Bank in Delaware, and the Superior Court of New Jersey/Atlantic County Civil Court in New Jersey. She most recently served as RFP Coordinator for TransLoc, Inc. in Raleigh.
Ms. Hinton holds a bachelor’s degree in History from North Carolina Central University, a paralegal certification from Duke University Continuing Studies, and a Doctor of Law degree from Howard University School of Law.
Jason Periard Appointed Chief of School Security
Mr. Periard served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 20 years, culminating in rank as Master Sergeant. He has worked as a Special Agent for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and as an Investigations Officer for the USMC Criminal Investigation Division. He is currently Vice President of Community Security Initiative at The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.
Mr. Periard holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland, a master of business administration degree from the University of Phoenix and a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University.
Mitchell Cox Appointed Supervisor of Employee Relations
Mitchell Cox has been appointed Supervisor of Employee Relations effective July 2021. Mr. Cox joined Knox County Schools in 2017 as principal of Halls Elementary School.
Mr. Cox taught seven years at Sullivan North High School before becoming a teacher and administrative assistant at Innovation Academy of Northeast Tennessee in 2012. He began his career in administration the following year as an assistant principal at Sullivan Central High School and served as principal of Indian Springs Elementary School. In 2019, he was named principal of Cedar Bluff Elementary, where he currently serves.
Mr. Cox holds a bachelor’s degree in History from East Tennessee State University, a master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Walden University, and an Educational Leadership license from Union College.
Douglas Shover Appointed Director of Facilities Management
After working as an architect in Ohio for nearly seven years, Mr. Shover returned to Knoxville and joined The Lewis Group Architects. He has worked for the Lewis Group for more than 20 years, currently serving as the Vice President of Primary and Secondary Education as well as a Project Manager. Mr. Shover holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Ohio State University.
