SEEED (Socially Equal Energy Efficient Development) will have a groundbreaking for its first completely solar-powered home of the future that will be in the Lonsdale community.
Knoxville, Tenn April 20, 2021, – On Earth Day, Thursday, April 22 at 1 pm, SEEED (Socially Equal Energy Efficient Development) will break ground on the organization’s first completely solar-powered home that will be – in the hood.
SEEED chose a site in the Lonsdale community at 1122 Texas Avenue for its first 100% solar-powered home project. It is planned to be equipped with state-of-the-art solar energy-reducing systems, HVAC, hot water, and electricity.
“The utilities in this house will cost about $600 a year, said Stan Johnson, SEEED CEO. That’s about $50 a month! It will be 3-bedrooms and about 1,200 square feet.
When completed the house will be offered for sale at an affordable, below market price to a qualified, low-to-moderate income family.
This is planned to be the first of many green energy homes to be built by SEEED, a green energy non-profit that trains inner-city youth with sustainable green skills while advocating to make clean energy technologies accessible to inner-city and low-income residents.
The event can be viewed live on Facebook at 1 pm here. Seeed Knox, supporting sponsors include southern Alliance for Clean Energy and Harvey Broome Group.
