Fred Campbell (age 85)
Fred W. Campbell Jr. gained his heavenly wings at Tennova Healthcare on Sunday, December 20, 2020. Affectionately known as “Butter Cup”, he was 85 years of age, born July 15, 1935 in Cleveland, Tn. to the late Lola and Fred Campbell Sr.
He is preceded in death by his late parents; his mother and father-in-law, Prudy and Ed Johnson; granddaughter, Crystal Stovall-Kinamore; brother-in-law, Allen “Dog” Johnson.
Fred “Butter Cup” was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was baptized at an early age. He was a member of the male chorus and was a faithful member of Wednesday night Bible Study. He enjoyed visiting other community churches and later became a member of Green Chapel Church in Charleston, Tn. He was a graduate of College Hill School and he retired from Bowater Paper Mill after
42 years.
Many knew him to be a jokester, he was always telling his granddaughters that he would cut their hair off and put it on his bald head. Many would often see him at Wal-Mart kidding around with the employees and customers. He enjoyed watching western movies and working on his crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Loretta Campbell; son, Brelsford (Margaret) Johnson; sister-in-law, Alice Turner; brother-in-law, William Johnson, James Johnson, and Alphonso Pugh; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
The body may be viewed at the Patton Funeral Home chapel, 265 Fair St., Cleveland Tennessee Sunday, December 27 from noon until 5 PM. Graveside service will be Monday, December 28, at noon at Fort Hill Cemetery. Dr. Rev. Harry Johnson will be the eulogist.
