Wreaths Across America Decorated 3 Knoxville Veteran’s Cemeteries

KNOXVILLE, TN (Dec. 2020) – December 19th, was the wreath-laying day for Wreaths Across America’s thousands of volunteers across the country.

Tens of thousands of wreaths were simultaneously placed in Knoxville’s three veteran’s cemeteries; Knoxville Veteran’s Cemetery on Tyson Street in North Knoxville, East Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery on Lyon’s View Pike in West Knoxville, and the sdfsdfsd in East Knox County.

The Senate recently passed bill #786 to officially recognize Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, December 19th, 2020. Wreaths Across America Day and the Wreaths Across America Escort to Arlington National Cemetery (Virtual Convoy) also highlight all locations across the country and deliveries to veteran cemeteries across America.

The Knoxville National Cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There, over 9,006  veteran’s graves are well-kept. The occupants are American citizens who fought for freedoms abroad and locally, from the Civil War to the war in Viet Nam, in all branches of the military; Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force. Under restrictions, the spouse and children of the service members are also buried there.
On Wreaths Day, December 19, at 0900 to 1300 hours, members of the Tennessee Crossroads Genealogy Club/Knoxville volunteered at the Knoxville National Cemetery by placing wreaths at Knoxville National Cemetery. While volunteers across America placed over 2.2 million wreaths in all 50 states to remember and honor fallen soldiers during the holidays.

Jersey Mike’s Subs locations have supported WAA since 2010. This year, each $15 wreath donation was matched up to $300,000 in a Challenge Match. Jersey Mike’s franchisees across the country support the military and their families.“The thought of a headstone being left bare is unimaginable and it something we want to help make sure doesn’t happen.”…

The Pilot Company offers an opportunity to round-up to the nearest dollar on in-store purchases fundraiser through December 31st. The Company is donating $20,000 and will contribute $20,000 from the round-up campaign to support Wreaths Across America in remembrance of the company’s hometown heroes.

Wreaths Across America’s traveling Mobile Education Exhibit visits cities across the U.S. The exhibit is open to the public for free tours at several locations throughout the year.
