Arthur D. Johnson
Arthur D. Johnson “Dee” passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020 at Fort Sanders Hospital. He was born to the late Grant Sr. and Gussie Johnson.
He was a graduate of Austin High School class of 1954. Arthur was employed and retired from The Army and Navy Club in Washington D.C. Arthur was an avid golfer and bowler. He played in the Green Turf Golfing Association and was a champion of many golfing tournaments.
He was a dedicated member of Bethel AME Church where he loved attending Sunday School.
He leaves to cherish his memory, devoted wife, Gloria, sons; Arthur D. Johnson Jr., Edward Jerome Johnson, and Decarlus Pierce, daughters; Gwendolyn, Brenda, Cheryl, and Sharon Pierce, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Bobbie Jean Johnson and Rosa Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to name.
Open visitation hours, 11am to 8 pm, Friday, December 18, 2020 at Jarnigan and Son Mortuary. The family will assemble at the funeral home for visitation 4:30 – 5:00 pm on Saturday December 19, 2020 with Celebration of Life services to follow. Pastor Lee Russell Brown Jr., Officiating.
During this time, we will remain in compliance with the Govenor’s Executive order #17 (COVID-19). Social distancing and face mask will be required.
