Barbara Harshaw (age 83)

KNOXVILLE, TN – (Updated) Barbara Jean Harshaw, affectionately known as Ms. Bobbie, departed this life on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at her home.  She was born July 22, 1937 to Madison and Mary Lawrence Harshaw in Knoxville. TN.  She attended Knoxville City Schools and soon after received her General Education Development certificate to enter the workforce.  She worked at Standard Knitting Mill until its closure.  Ms. Bobbie joined the hospitality field working at various hotels across Knoxville.  She would eventually retire from Hilton Hotels after several years of dedicated service.

She was a hardworking woman whose greatest joys were her boys.  She loved being a mother and a grandmother.  Her nurturing spirit led her to care for others as well.  She worked as a home health sitter.

Preceded in death by her son, Michael Harshaw; granddaughter, Stacy Norries; parents, Madison Henry Houston Harshaw and Mary Elizabeth Lawrence Harshaw; sisters, Willie Bell Slaughter and Alzina “Snoop” Williams; friends who were like sisters, Loraine Moulden, and Marie Cleveland.

Survived by her loving sons, Ronald Harshaw and LuMari Harshaw; daughters-in-law, Ann Fine and Cleo Harshaw; grandchildren, Shannon Carmichael, Lamar Madison Harshaw, and Marquisa Harshaw Taylor; great-grandchildren, Shakur, Shamiya, Neveah, Aaliyah Marie, Lamar Jr., Kie-Mar, Jah-ri, Ariya “Maddie” and MarQuest; close friends, Mrs. Edna Easterly and family, the Hamlets, Mrs. Veronica Wells, the Tate, McMillan, Booker and Pirtle families.
