Stan Lee’s Marvel Comic Book Heroes inspired by Real Civil Rights and African History Icons
A breakdown of hidden politics. Many of Stan Lee’s heroes created for Marvel Comic books, were real with connections to Civil Rights, African history and activists.
Stan Lee of Marvel Comics often used his characters and stories as commentaries to express his personal development, morals, US political insights, and Civil rights struggles. His process also borrowed from Greek, Roman and African mythology to create his comic universes.
This serious philosophical commentary has been forgotten in the wham-bam action of recent superhero movies. This interactive presentation of film clips, interviews, comics and press articles will share how Black history inspired Stan Lee/Marvel Comics in created many of its superheroes, and how Lee’s stories influenced and inspired millions of people all over the world.
