KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 10, 2022) – The American Muslim Advisory Council (AMAC) in partnership with Voter Education Fund will offer Advocacy Training on the importance of civic participation in the Muslim community.
The session will be this Friday, February 11, 2022 at 7 pm, at Masjid Annoor, 100 13th St., Knoxville 37916. The discussion will center on ways community members can get involved and will provide ways to make your voice heard as we enter the 2022 election season. There will be a Question & Answer period followed by Isha prayer.
The speakers will be Sabina Mohyuddin, Exec. Director of American Muslim Advisory Council, and Mariam Husain, member of the Voter Education Fund
A brief presentation will be made by AMAC Chair and Nashville City Councilwoman At Large Zulfat Suara who was elected in 2019 becoming the first Muslim to be elected to Nashville City Council.
The panel will also provide a state legislative update and highlight important bills making their way through the legislative process that will impact the Muslim community in Tennessee.
You will also have the opportunity to register for Muslim Day on the Hill, AMAC’s annual advocacy day, March 9, 2022, in Nashville. Participants will meet with their respective elected officials in the Tenn. General Assembly. Learn more and register for Muslim Day on the Hill here.

AMAC offers cultural competency training on the Muslims community and workshops on Islamophobia to government agencies, law enforcement, businesses, nonprofits and groups of all sizes. We also design specifically tailored dialogues and presentations on a host of topics related to the Muslim community and Islam. AMAC also holds “know your rights” workshops, civic engagement workshops and media training for community members.
