ABOUT: The AAER Task Force was approved by City Council resolution (R-367-2020) to invest $100 million (resources) in Knoxville’s Black neighborhoods, which were destroyed in the city of Knoxville’s urban renewal projects in the 1950s and ‘60s. The task force is commissioned to study, review and identify strategic solutions to equitably support, and restore the disenfranchisement of Knoxville’s Black community with 21st Century strategies and resources. The AAER seeks to empower existing agencies supporting the community; develop policy, programs and recommendations to recoup/reestablish the generational wealth that was systemically buried in the concrete of roads and highways.
