The City of Knoxville is hosting five community listening sessions to gather input to help guide the search for the next Knoxville Police Department Chief.
City Mayor Indya Kincannon is reaching out to let you know how much your input is valued, especially on one of the most important appointments a Mayor makes – hiring a new police chief.Back in early November, Chief Eve Thomas announced her retirement, effective May 1, 2022. Chief Thomas has led the police department through some very challenging times. Her willingness to stay through the spring provides ample time to find a successor.A national search will be conducted for her replacement. This does not preclude internal candidates but cast a wide net for this crucial role to protect and serve the people of Knoxville. Over the next few weeks input from residents regarding the attributes needed for the next Chief.As part of that process five drop-in-style meeting sites, where you can ask questions and share your concerns and suggestions are scheduled.
Knoxville residents are invited to visit one of five drop-in meetings to ask questions and submit their concerns and recommendations to establish parameters for the next KPD Chief.
