It’s Giving Season!
Many are planning parties, gifting and holiday traditions that will become memories with friends and family. For some, it’s also an opportunity to give back to those less fortunate and in need.
Studies show that approximately 31% of all annual giving occurs in December and approximately 12% of all annual giving is in the last three days of December. At Cherokee, the spirit of giving is year-round our time, resources and medical assistance to underserved populations. It’s the foundation of what we do. Cherokee improves the quality of life by blending Primary Care and Behavioral Health Services.
Our 5th Ave. clinic in Knoxville embodies generosity. It primarily serves the homeless population. Melissa Rose has worked at the clinic for about six years and says that working with the homeless population is challenging yet rewarding.
“Our patients at the 5th Avenue clinic face many challenges due to being homeless, but we’re here to help them through whatever they are facing. We have a wonderful team of providers, nurses, case managers and other employees who are ready to help all of our patients achieve their greatest level of health and well-being,” said Melissa Rose, Office Manager.
Through the ups and downs, the staff at the 5th Avenue clinic can attest to the impact their work has had and what makes it all worth it.
“I look forward to serving patients at our 5th Avenue clinic every day. Being the office
manager means I get the opportunity to make a positive impact on every patient who
comes through the clinic. I strive to make sure patients receive the best care possible
here,” said Rose.
If you are in the giving spirit this season, Rose and her team are accepting clothing and hygiene donations. Feel free to drop off shirts, gloves, jackets, toothpaste, toothbrushes, Chapstick and other toiletries at the front office located at 538 West Fifth Avenue Knoxville, TN 37917. The hours are 8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday; phone 865-525-2104.
