Splash pads open this weekend for the 2021 season. Knox County Parks and Recreation Department splash pad automated water playgrounds for kids of all ages and free and open to the public. The splash pads are open daily—weather permitting—from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. beginning May 8 through Sept. 12. Knox County has splash pads at three parks: Carl Cowan (10058 S Northshore Drive), New Harvest (4775 New Harvest Lane) and Powell Station Park (2318 W Emory Road).
Knoxville Outdoor Recreation Experience with Mayor K! KORE is a new program of the City Parks and Recreation Department to promote a variety of outdoor sports and activities for all ages and fitness levels. Senior’iffic Fun in the Park offers morning sessions on Wednesdays in the month of May; the 12, 19 and 26th. The activities are designed exclusively for senior citizens and will follow strict Knox County Health Department safety precautions in addition to being conducted outside in Caswell Park, 570 Winona Ave. near O’Connor Senior Center.
The activities are to reboot creativity and physical activity. Included is line dancing, Tai Chi, aerobics, crafts, painting, music and senior musicians all in a safe, physically distanced, outdoor setting that adheres to public health protocols to minimize the spread of the virus.
All events are free, preregistration is required for each session you plan to attend in order to allow for physical distancing.
