(KNOXVILLE, TN) The Beta Theta Boule’ Foundation, Inc., hosted its 3rdAnnual Father’s Day Luncheon Celebration at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Knoxville. About 300 fathers, families and their guests dined on a buffet-style meal that featured prime rib to music performed by pianist Jaylen McCoy who is a junior at Hardin Valley High School.

(ALCOA, TN) The “5th Annual Memorial Decoration Day Celebration” was Monday morning at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. About 100 citizens were there to honor black veterans and their families. Attendance was deterred by drizzling rain. The event has attracted over 300 participants in prior years.
The celebration of black veterans began promptly at noon with Blount County veterans raised the flag during a 21-gun salute and bugle taps performed by members of the volunteer East Tennessee Honor Guard under the direction of Reid Gephardt.
The Reunion of the Ages was recently in Pigeon Forge for students who attended Morristown College, West High School (‘59-‘66), Nelson Merry (Jefferson City), and Miller Boyd Schools for blacks that were closed years ago, but not forgotten by its students.
