KNOXVILLE, TN – Mae Lee Thompkins-Tally departed this life, March 31, 2021 at Island Home Park Health and Rehabilitation Knoxville, TN. She was born February 20, 1929 to the late Mr. Elijah and Willie C. Arnold Thompkins; and was the third child of five children.
Mae Lee confessed Christ at an early age and joined Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Knoxville, TN. She wedded Rufus “Dixie” Talley. They were blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Mae Lee attended Morristown College in Morristown, TN. Then she enlisted in the United States Army. Mae Lee loved playing games, riding around, walking, eating ice cream, and she loved her crossword puzzles. When you visited her she would meet you with a big beautiful smile while sitting on the porch watching the people in the neighborhood pass by.
Mae Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus “Dixie” Talley; parents, Elijah, and Willie C. Thompkins; brothers, Hillavery Thompkins, Richard Thompkins, and sister, Terrance “Teen” Thompkins Sawyer.
Mae Lee leaves to cherish her earthly memories, sister, Jenell Thompkins of Knoxville, TN and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, (First Cousin Club), relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends, 10:30-11 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2021 at Jarnigan’s Chapel; funeral service, 11:00 a.m., Rev. Leroy Sawyer, Officiating.
