KNOXVILLE, TN – Harold Franklin Chandler, 84 departed this life peacefully at 4:03 p.m., April 8, 2021 at Island Home Park Health and Rehabilitation Center, Knoxville; staff and family members were at his bedside.
Born January 19, 1937 to Janie Chandler in the Boyd’s Creek Community of Sevierville, Tennessee. Seeking employment in his teens, Harold moved to Knoxville. He was employed with the Athletic House for 51 years. After retiring, he entered the Foster Grandparent Program at the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Center, where he served as a classroom Assistant.
Harold was a faithful member of Foster Chapel Baptist Church for many years. He served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and assisted with the benevolent ministry; well known, well liked.
Preceded in death by wife, Mary Florence Chandler; mother, Janie Chandler and five Chandler brothers.
Survivors, daughter, Brenda (James) Chambers; son, James Eugene (Jeannie) Parks; grand and great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia McMillan, Knoxville; brother, Theodore (Brenda) Chandler, Boyd’s Creek, TN; a host of nieces and nephews.
The viewing, 12- 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Jarnigan’s Mortuary.
Graveside service, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Berry Highland South, Reverend Joseph Tolbert, officiating.
