UScellular has announced its winners of the Boys & Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley Annual Black History Month Art Contest
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 1, 2021) – UScellular announced the three winners of the sixth annual Black History Month Art Contest it sponsors with the Boys & Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley with a visit to the winners’ clubs.
“It was amazing to see the creativity and wide range of inspirations Club members used to create their art this year,” said Nathan Waddell, UScellular’s director of sales in East Tennessee. “We extend our congratulations to the winners and all the finalists in this year’s contest. We’re thrilled to be able to team with Boys & Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley to celebrate Black History Month and the diversity in our community and the country.”
During Black History Month in February 2021, members of the Boys & Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley created artwork in recognition of influential Black historical figures around the world making their choices unlimited to among African-American historical figures, world leaders, athletes and celebrities among many others.
“Our members did a wonderful job capturing Black History through artwork,” said Bart McFadden, president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley. “We are grateful to UScellular and the community for supporting these kids (children) as they learn about history in a creative way. Congratulations to the winners as well as every member who took the time to participate.”
The 10 finalists were chosen by representatives from the Boys & Girls Club and local UScellular administrators based on creativity, quality, interpretation, clarity of theme, and overall impression. For the first time, voting was open to the public online.
The winning artists are:
· 1st place $250: Kaden Robinson
· 2nd place $150: Laklynn Rudder
· 3rd Place $100: Anya Brawner
UScellular sponsors a Black History Month Art Contests at 28 Boys & Girls Clubs across the country.
