Paula Frederica Pittard King Booker, age 64

Oak Ridge, TN – Paula Frederica Pittard King Booker, age 64, passed from this life into eternal life on Saturday, March 19, 2021.

She was born on April 24, 1956 in Harriman Tennessee to Fred & Pauline Pittard. She was a 1974 graduate of Oak Ridge High School ‘the 74 Cruisers’ and attended ETSU.

Ms. Paula P. King Booker was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Pauline Pittard; siblings Dora Pittard and Billy Joe Harris; aunts, Reba Price, Myrtle Cale, Josephine Lee, Sarah Fain, Corine Radical, Uncles Robert and Curtis Harris and Grandchildren Frederica and William Booker.

Ms. King Booker was a member of Spurgeon Chapel AME Zion Church.

She is survived by her daughter, J.”Imani”(Aaron) and son William Taavian Booker, also beloved Jackie Griffin, Armand Booker, Jaman Booker. Grandchildren Jataallis Henderson and Tiger Booker. Nieces Aisha T. Faison, Carol Riser (Stephon), Alisha Harris, Sybil Cannon (Anthony), Tabby Taylor (Damon), Kristie Jamison (Maliki) and nephew Jeff Harris (Sylvia).

Great Nieces Aiyana D. Scott, Chelsey Carmicial (Kuron), Courtney Harris, D’Naysha Keltin Cannon, Briana Kai Brandon Jamison, Jalen Taylor.
Great Nephews Adrian Riser, Jaylan Taylor, Kelton Cannon, Kai Jamison, Brandon Jamison and a host of cousins and friends.

Paula is also survived by her siblings, Yvonne D. Pittard and James Sinclair.

Special friends include Imogene Moore, Diana Watson, Kathy Hodges, Dee Dee Chapman, Dewey Roberts, William Summey, Ronnie Capshaw; and special extended family Julie Harris and Blenza Phillips.

Paula, an activist, was active within the civil rights movement as the Vice President of the Knoxville NAACP, raising over $60 million dollars for what is now known locally as the Knoxville PARC Association as well as winning the landmark Supreme Court lawsuit against the Boeing Company establishing equal pay to all.

Paula was full of life and had a smile that could shame the sun. She was a devoted mother to her children and worked hard to provide for them. She loved dancing and traveling but what gave her true joy was spending time with her family.

The family will receive friends, 10 – 11:30 a.m Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Spurgeon Chapel AME Zion Church. Internment and graveside service at 12 noon, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Rev. Churchill Moore officiating.
