KNOXVILLE, TN – Born to Lillian (Hill) and Harry Moses on September 10, 1935, Cynthia Marie Moses was one of eight children. After graduating from Austin High School in 1953, she went to Cosmetology school and worked in that field for a few years. She then found her true calling for helping people. Over 30 years, Cynthia worked as a Social worker for the State of Tennessee where she was recognized as always “Striving to do her best” and “Working harmoniously” with her co-workers and others.
Cynthia was a lover of women’s basketball (the Tennessee Lady Vols were her favorite team). She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and an active member of Rogers Memorial Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess, choir member and member of the JOY club.
A lifelong resident of Knoxville, Cynthia relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio to live with her daughter and spend her final four years surrounded by her loving family.
Preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Henry W. Anderson, Sr.; parents; sisters, Catherine and Lillian “Lois”, and brothers, Harry Moses Jr, James William, Robert “Bobby” and Paul Lauderback.
Left to witness her home going are her children, Tawana Gail Anderson Lenoir (Gary), Henry Jr. “Patches” (Suzette), and Anthony “Tony” (Jacqueline); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda Lauderback; sisters-in-law, Carrie Johnson, Evelyn Grimes and Betty Lauderback; her church family and her very devoted Knoxville friends.
Saturday, March 27, 2021, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2137 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings are required. A private service will follow for immediate family and close friends. Reverend Dr. Michel S.E. Caldwell is the eulogist. Monday, March 29, 2021, the interment will take place at 10 a.m. at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 Gov. John Sevier Highway where a white dove release will conclude the service.
