Knoxville, TN – Roman Littlejohn went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 30, 2021 surrounded by his family. Roman was born October 3, 1940 to the Late Otis Sr. and Etolia Dale Littlejohn in Dante, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis Sr. and Etolia Littlejohn, brothers George, Otis Jr., and Melvin Littlejohn.
Roman graduated from Austin High School in 1960. He joined the United States Army in 1966, where he served 3 years on active duty. He earned the Sharpshooter Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the 6th Battalion 27th Artillery Certificate of Achievement for Meritorious Performance of Duty while engaged in combat in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from the US Army as an SP4, July 31, 1969.
Roman married Carolyn Lipscomb, August 5, 1967 in Buffalo, South Carolina. They had two daughters, Rhonda Lynne and Nedra Dionne.
Roman worked at Oak Ridge, Tennessee at the Y-12 and K-25 facilities with Union Carbide, Martin Marietta, and Lockheed Martin as a Machinist for 27 years.
Roman joined Payne Avenue Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastorate of the late Reverend M. J. Robinson, baptized on March 30, 1980, where he served on the Men’s Usher Board. Later he united with Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, now Fern Street Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Church Treasurer and Choir President. He then joined Logan Temple AME Zion Church under Paster Samuel Brown.
Roman cherished his family and loved to do special things for them. He also enjoyed the early morning breakfast meetups with his retired co-workers, especially dining at Golden Girls Restaurant in Clinton, Tennessee.
Surviving family includes Devoted Loving Wife and Caregiver, Carolyn Littlejohn; Daughters, Rhonda Littlejohn of College Park, Georgia, Nedra Littlejohn, and Son, Roman (Kieshia) Edwards of Knoxville, Tennessee; Brother, Dennie Littlejohn and Sister, Frances (William) Riddle of Knoxville, Tennessee; brothers-in-law, Harold (Rita) Lipscomb, Melvin Lipscomb of Union, South Carolina and Arthur Lewis (Cynthia) Lipscomb of Denver, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Patricia Littlejohn, Jacqueline Littlejohn and Geraldine Littlejohn of Knoxville, Tennessee, Caroline Lipscomb of Staten Island, New York, Edith Henderson of Buffalo, South Carolina, Mary Ann Lipscomb of Union, South Carolina and Robin Lewis of Detroit, Michigan; grandchildren, Keevan Littlejohn, Emmanuel Gardner, Jalen Jackson, Khadijah Hodge, Kai Littlejohn, Erin Gregory and Roman Edwards; precious great-grandchildren, Natalee, Madison, Giovanni and Milan; a host of loving and devoted nephews, nieces, family and friends; longtime friends of the family, Colette Howell, Armentha Eskridge, the Angel family, the Colquitt Family, Logan Temple AME Zion and Fern Street Missionary Baptist Church families.

Interment 8:30 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2021 at E. Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Hwy.
