KNOXVILLE, TN – Max Arthur Carter, age 71, of Knoxville, departed this life on Saturday, January 30, 2021. He was born in Greeneville, Tennessee on September 20, 1949, to Gussie L. Carter.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a graduate of East High School and East Tennessee State University. He was employed by Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries. Max had a passion for helping others and worked tirelessly for KARM until he became ill. He was a devoted servant of God as a member of Crossroads Ministries Church.
Max is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Robinson-Carter; daughters, Natasha and Tamara Carter; stepsons, William (Shane), Chivous (Shug) Robinson, Rashad (Rhody) and Jacolby (Tae) Henry; grandchildren, Shania Robinson, Jacolby Henry II and Taevion Henry; great-grandchildren Amari Williams and Massyha Robinson; sisters, Patsy Johnson, Pamela Coney and Bobbie Ann Woodard; brother, Maynard Carter.
Thursday, February 11, 2021, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Greater Warner Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church, 3800 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings are required.
A private interment for the immediate family will follow at East TN Veterans Cemetery, 2200 Gov. John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, where military honors and a white dove release will conclude the service. During this time, we will remain in compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order No. 17 (COVID-19).
