Detroit, MI – Mary “Mitzi” Warren Mitchell, age 72, formerly of Knoxville, passed away, at Grace Hospital in Detroit, MI.
While residing in Knoxville, she was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was also a member of The Staple Community Choir where she was one of the lead vocalists. “Mitzi” graduated from Austin High School, Class of 1967. In 1972, she moved to Atlanta, GA. then, Detroit became her home in 2007 where she remained until her passing.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Loraine; husband, Freddie Mitchell; sisters, Willie Mae “Pig” Brannon, Brenda Thomas and Christine “Bitty” Judson; brothers, James and Robert “Bobby” Warren.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sister Betty Bowen; sisters-in-law, Florence Warren, Ann Roe, Connie Holloway and Phyllis Patrick; brothers-in-law, Jerome Thomas and Michael Mitchell; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to include the Blair, Black and Mitchell families.
The body may be viewed Thursday, February 11, 2021, 12 – 8 pm at Jarnigan’s Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday, February 12, 2021, 11 – 11:30 am at Jarnigan’s Chapel; funeral service to follow.
Face masks and social distancing are required. Interment 1 pm at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike.
