KNOXVILLE, TN – James Edward DuBose, age 75, was born, May 18, 1945 in Alcoa, Tennessee to Embry E. DuBose and Edith I. Kelly DuBose. He departed this life, February 14, 2021.
Jim was a graduate of Austin High School class of 1963, a United States Army veteran and a retiree of IBM with over 25 years of service.
Jim was always the life of the party and known for his kind ways, beautiful smile and colorful stories. Throughout his life, he was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, Super Saturdays at the MLB Building, the East Knoxville Amateur Radio Club and East Knoxville Optimist Club. Jim served on several CAC boards, worked numerous elections, was active in his church and worked with the local and national Scleroderma foundations until his health declined.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Samuel Ellis Terrell.
Left to cherish his memories are wife, Gwen Smith DuBose; caregiver and very devoted daughter and son-in-law, Edith D. “Edie” and Stewart Grooms Sr.; sons, Tobias DuBose, Talib Baah and Thomas (Lauren) Moore; grandchildren, Arianna G. DuBose, Jeremy (Brionna) Grooms Sr. and Stewart (Markesha) Grooms Jr.; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Evelyn Maxine Terrell and Embry A. DuBose; nephew, Jason E. Terrell.

Open visitation 12-8 pm Friday, February 19, 2021; services 10:30am Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Jarnigan & Son Mortuary. Interment will be at a later date.
