Sherman McDuffey (age 80)
Knoxville – Sherman McDuffey, age 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Creekview Health Center. He was born July 8, 1940, to the late Daniel and Dorothy Elizabeth Brazelton McDuffey.
He was a graduate of Austin High School class of 1958 and retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company of America as a Laborer. He was a devout believer in the risen Jesus Christ. His legacy includes that he loved to smile, laugh, and sometimes recite a rhyme or do a dance to brighten someone’s day. He was a true friend and helped many people and organizations behind the scenes in a gentle and sincere way that will be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
In addition to his parents, Sherman is preceded in death by his nephew, Charles McDuffey Jr., and sister-in-law, Lois McDuffey.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Yolanda and Lydell Hammond; brother Charles McDuffey Sr., sister Beverly McDuffey Ward, brother and sister-in-law Ernest Sr. and Katherine McDuffey, nieces and nephews, Chenitha (James) Drake, Vernie, Darren (Jackie), LaKeisha, Daymond (Tara), Ernest Jr. (Alyshia), a host of great-nieces and nephews to include namesake great-nephew Sherman Casby; longtime family friend and caregiver, Brenda Page; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Open visitation will be Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Jarnigan & Son’s Chapel, 10 a.m.- 8 p.m.
The family will receive friends, 12:30 p.m.- 1 p.m., Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Jarnigan & Son’s Chapel, followed by funeral service officiated by Rev. Sanford Miller, and eulogist Rev. Jessie Williams.
