Nancy Jones (age 73)
KNOXVILLE, TN – Nancy L Jones passed away, December 30, 2020 from complications of pneumonia at the University of Tennessee Hospital. She was born, August 16, 1947, to the late Russell G. and Lina A. Jones. She was a loving sister to ten siblings, an aunt, and a friend.
Nancy was currently an honorary member of New Beginnings Christian Community Fellowship Church. She gave herself to the Lord early in life while attending Lonsdale COGIC under the leadership of Elder Lorenzo Smith where she loved to recite poems, sing in the choir, and quote scripture for special events to include school as well.
She was educated in the Knoxville City school system and graduated from Austin High School. While attending Austin High, she enjoyed singing, dancing, and sports. Nancy attended Tennessee A & I State University in Nashville, TN. After leaving school, she moved to Detroit Michigan and landed a job with Park Davis Pharmaceutical and remained in its employ until retirement. After 40 years away, she decided to return home to good old Knoxville, TN.
Nancy had a fond liking for animals, namely dogs, but adopted a stray cat (Mr. Wonderful) in the last couple of years. I guess this explains her obsession with purchasing anything with animal print on it, clothes, luggage, sunglasses, door keys, car seat covers, etc.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sister, Lois Hendricks; brothers, Emmitt G. Roger W, Casey C, William C, and Ronald S. Jones, all of Knoxville, TN.
She leaves to mourn: brother, Russell (Minnie) Jones; sisters, Lina Helen Bejide, Doris P. Roper, and Lina L Jones; sisters-in-law, Annie and Remy Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Open visitation 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Jarnigan’s Chapel. The funeral service will be family only due to covid-19, at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2020, at Jarnigan’s Chapel, Rev. Dexter Jordan, Officiating. Interment, Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
