Johnnie Mae Langston ,age 63
KNOXVILLE, TN – Johnnie Mae Langston departed this life peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at U.T. Medical Center. She was born on October 22, 1957, to parents Johnny Herndon, mother Sarah Langston in Knoxville.
She attended Laurel Church of Christ. She worked for many years at Children’s Hospital and Knox County Schools. Johnnie Mae loved cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Johnny Herndon and Sarah Langston; grandparents, Colus and Annie Mae Roper; uncle Aaron Goggins and Eula Lee Geter; brother Charles Langston, Jr. (Tina).
She leaves to cherish her memory: sons Samuel (Bianca) Gilmore III, and Jamar Eugene Gilmore; grandchildren Paul Riley, Andria Florence, Rebecca Wilder, Samuel IV, Charles (Big Baby) Kedaris, DaKevian, Sedricia, Samyne, Jatyea, Je’Miyah and Jamar Ronday Gilmore, Trey’von Dyon and Nisha Chambers. Brothers, Johnny Herndon, Jr. Booker T. and Charles Langston III; Sisters, Lateishia Hall (Donnie), Wanda Golden, Brenda and Deborah Langston. Devoted nieces: Demetria Nance, Raeunna (Randolph) Brown, and Keira Langston; great-niece, Yishenique Glover, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special thanks to U.T. Ms. Langston will lie-in-repose on Friday, January 22, from 12 to 5 p.m. at the Unity Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 11:30 – noon, with the Celebration of Life Service to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel with Elder Thomas E. Glenn officiating.
The final resting place will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery immediately following the service. Due to Covid restrictions, the family respectively asks that mask be worn and social distancing be practiced. Unity Mortuary is honored to serve the Langston and Gilmore families. www.unitymortuary1979.com.
