Brenda Ruth McBath Thacker 1951 – 2021

Knoxville – Brenda Ruth McBath Thacker gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, January 10th in Louisville, TN. after a long battle with cancer. Brenda was born on April 6, 1951, to the late W. Paul and Samuel Bernatta Rorex McBath in Louisville, TN.

Brenda was raised and educated in Blount County, Tennessee. She graduated from Everette High School before earning a Bachelor’s of Science at Knoxville College. She later earned a Master’s of Science degree from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and an Educational Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University. Brenda retired after 34 years of teaching in the Pulaski City and Blount County School System.

Brenda was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and Phi Delta Kappa, Educational Sorority. She was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Superintendent, and choir member.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Samuel Paul, Malcolm R. and S. Glenn McBath, father of her children, Michael Bourne, and late husband Jimmie Thacker Jr.

Brenda is survived by her son Miguel Bourne (Megan Davis); daughter Elizabeth (Fredrick) Pope; granddaughters, Kyla Bourne, Just’Us Bourne, Stella, and Mona Pope; sister, Bernetta Hardin; loving companion, Jimmy Chandler; children, Nikki, Felicia, Jasmine; aunts, Earnastine Jackson, Vicki Scott, Barbara McBath and Lela McBath, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and an amazing support system to include, the Chandler family.

Open visitation, 11 am-8 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Jarnigan & Son Chapel.

The family will receive friends 12:30 – 1pm., Friday January 15, 2021 at Jarnigan’s Chapel; funeral services to follow presided by Rev. Sidney Davis Jr. and Rev. Dr. Alvin Smith, Eulogist.

Interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
