KNOXVILLE, TN (Dec. 11, 2020) – Knox County leaders invite you to participate in a ZOOM session to implore Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee to issue a statewide mask mandate; and to support the safety recommendations of medical professionals and the Knox County Board of Health.
Local Democratic leadership, as well as others, promotes reason and science as the best way to minimize the rage of COVID-19. Other government officials are promoting “Stop the Steal” super spreader events, ignoring public health protocols, and plotting the destruction of the Board of Health and the United States Constitution.
The Joint Press Conference will be at 10 am, Tuesday, December 15th, via Zoom for the safety of all. The event will be streamed and can be viewed here, Facebook Live.
This session is planned to be interactive, accepting on-air (serious) questions and comments from viewers and participants. The panelists are local medical professionals who will be appealing to the public with ways to stay safe and vigilant; Knox County and State elected officials with calls to action for Gov. Lee to protect his constituents; and will include an impact statement from a local citizen. Participants include:
- Knox County Commissioner Dr. Dasha Lundy
- Knox County Commissioner Courtney Durrett
- State Representative Gloria Johnson
- State Representative Sam McKenzie
- Knox County medical professionals
- a local citizen’s COVID-19 impact statement
COVID cases across East Tennessee have strained the healthcare system and further endanger the lives of the most vulnerable East Tennesseans. Hospitals are straining to care for mounting COVID patients. The public is urged to listen to reason over misinformation, as Tennesseans are facing spikes in COVID hospitalizations and daily mounting COVID caseloads.
Knox County leaders urge a statewide mask mandate, express robust support for the Board of Health, appeal for a stronger Public Health response, and implore East Tennesseans to take the strictest precautions.
Leaders will share their experience, present concrete appeals for governmental actions, and encourage the public to stay vigilant as cases across the region strain the healthcare system and endanger the lives of vulnerable East Tennesseans.
