Knoxville, Tn – Bernice Lattimore Johnson departed this life on November 27, 2020 at Tennova North.
Preceded in death by parents, Howard (Katreen) Lattimore; devoted husband, James (Rudy) Johnson; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Johnson; baby brother, Howard (Joann) Lattimore Jr.; uncle, John (Gator) Lattimore; aunts, Cora Mae Montgomery, Lois Goodman, Melisa Dave, and sister-In-law, Paula Colquitt.
Bernice, born to Howard and Katreen, April 27, 1945 in Knoxville, TN. She was a graduate of Austin High School Class of 1963. She completed a semester at The University Of Tennessee; employed for the school system, starting at Maynard Elementary, and Tabernacle Baptist Church, and finished her career at Green Elementary School.
She was united in marriage to James Rudy Johnson, March 1, 1969, and was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a very hands-on grandmother and very attentive. She attended Edgewood Chapel Church every Sunday with her mother, Katreen. She loved cooking and always helping others. She was a child of God and made sure her grandchildren knew Jesus.
She leaves to celebrate her Life, sons, James Aaron Johnson, Eric (Tremane) Johnson; brother, Terry Logan, in-laws, Gayle, Connie, Jerry, and William (Buddy); grandchildren, ShyNisha Shatoya, James (AJ), Jamya, Jaron, and Elyssa Mae Johnson, great-grandchild, Shylan Rayshawn Rudy Johnson; nephew, Greg Springfield; great-niece, Quanisha (Shawn) Anderson; great-great, nieces, Maliyah, Kinsley, and Sunni, and long-time friend, Pauline (Tim); and a host of nieces and nephews.
The body can be viewed 11 a.m.- 8 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Jarnigan’s Chapel.
The family will receive friends, 10-10:30 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2020 at Jarnigan’s Chapel; funeral service, 10:30 am. Interment, Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Lyons View.
