Roderick Earl Ball born on May 16, 1963 in Anniston, Alabama, took his heavenly flight suddenly on Monday, December 7, 2020 in Laurel, Maryland at his residence.

Rod was known for his master cooking skills along with Restaurant Management at Steak-N-Shake, Applebee’s, and Nando’s Peri-Peri in Silver Spring, Maryland. He also was an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys displayed by high energy, boisterous antics, and trash-talking. When he came in the room you knew he was there. He had a gift to gab. Former member of Ott the Top Riders Bike Club of Knoxville, Tennessee, and member of the Class of 1983 Austin East Roadrunners.

Preceded in death by parents: James Ball and Jimmie Ruth Stephens Ball Kyle and step-father, Charles Kyle; grandparents, Orrige Ball Sr. and Mary Busby Ball; Willie and Adelaide Stephens; brother, James “Chuck” Ball, Jr. and sisters, Cassandra and Brenda Gaston.

He leaves to cherish his memories: loving companion: Michelle Jackson; former wife:  Julia Ball. Children: Ventonio (Ashley) Foster, Rodica Ball, Rodeseai Ball and devoted daughter: Jaylyn Ball and Paris (Man’s Best Friend). Grandchildren: Grayson Pitchford, Ryan Bethel, Oshun Ball, Amaria, Sasha, and Zoe Foster. God Son: Johnavon Brown.  Siblings: Barbara Page, Bernard Ball, Orrige (Marcy) Ball, Patrice (Kenneth Hicks) Ball, Bettina Ball, Brandy (Gregory) Cousar, Toni (Whitney) Leath, Robert (Rosie) Kyle, Kevin Kyle, Natasha Kyle, Alisha Kyle, and Malisha Kyle.  Aunts and Uncles: Bernice Duckett of Los Angeles, CA., Willie Tony (Precious) Stephens of Waukegan, Ill., Grace Stephens of Knoxville, TN., Dianne Crayton of Detroit, MI., Eugene (Gilda) Stephens of Farmington Hills, MI., Linda (Lawrence) Davis of Detroit, MI., Thelma (Haywood Craig) Smith, David Stephens, Angela (Josh) Dailey, Wilma and Wilbert Stephens all of Knoxville, TN., Mary Ball Bell of Detroit, MI., Betty Ball Malone of Anniston, AL; several devoted nieces, nephews, and other relatives too numerous to name.

Tuesday, December 22, 2020, there will be a public walkthrough from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Payne Avenue Baptist Church, 2714 Martin Luther King, Jr., Avenue, Knoxville, TN.  Social distancing and face coverings are required. A service will follow for immediate family and close friends.

Wednesday, December 23, 2020, the interment will take place at 11 a.m. at Highland South Cemetery, Knoxville, TN where a white dove release will conclude the service. During this time, we will remain in compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order #17 (COVID-19).
