Candidates Marquita Bradshaw (D) and Bill Hagerty (R) are vying to replace Tennessee (R) Senator Lamar Alexander.

For Tennessee Senate: Marquita Bradshaw (D) vs Bill Hagerty (R) to replace retiring Senator Lamar Alexander

The stakes in the race to replace retiring TN Senator Lamar Alexander are high:

Bill Hagerty, a longtime businessman and GOP donor, prevailed in the crowded Republican primary for Tennessee US Senate in August. He earned President Donald Trump’s endorsement for the seat right out of the gate. Hagerty is a Tennessee native who served as ambassador to Japan under the Trump administration for over two years from January 2017 to July 2019.

Hagerty’s campaign platform emphasizes supporting law enforcement, opposing socialism, bolstering Tennessee’s economy, and combatting illegal immigration and human trafficking.

Marquita Bradshaw handily won the Democratic primary in a major upset in a crowded field of contenders. She is a longtime boots on the ground, door-knocking, talking face-to-face, organizer. Her activism in Memphis began when she realized the health and safety of disadvantaged communities were being environmentally compromised with hazardous and industrial waste.

Marquita is running on a progressive platform that supports; Medicare for All healthcare system, combatting climate change, and improving equal access to a quality education in Tennessee. Many working poor, overlooked, taken advantage of, and ignored, voters identify with Bradshaw.
