Dr. Jane George Running for 2021 TNDP Chair

“Dr. Jane George, 2020 TN Senate District 6 candidate, announces run for TNDP Chair for 2021”

KNOXVILLE, TN (Nov. 2020) – “Today I announce my candidacy for Chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party. Over the next several weeks, I will continue my conversations with stakeholders across the state to discuss my vision, while listening to local leaders regarding the issues that mean the most to our communities.”

I understand the inherent challenges facing our party and the need to be constantly redefined. Growth and expansion are top-level goals, but we must focus on expanding our big tent to novel and sub-engaged demographics.

I plan to connect individuals with communities, communities with leaders, and prioritize inclusion with a swath of bold and progressive leaders. A network fortified by diversity yet enriched with common goals is a must. Inspiration and motivation need to be intrinsic in our next leader.

I realize the Chair of the TNDP sets the tone for election cycles, messaging communities, and outreach into new demographics. In my recent run for TN Senate District 6, I am proud to have prioritized these tenets in my recent campaign and believe the expansion of these principles will bring our party to new heights. I am invested in strengthening our rural participation while focusing on growing demands for our urban population.  l hope to earn your support.

On the morning of November 4th, I mourned for the thousands of voices that have denied in the state legislature. My life, as much as yours, has been dramatically affected by legislative decisions concerning healthcare and education access. With your support, we orchestrated a strong fight against the political dynasty that has represented the 6th Senate District for over 60 years. It was clear to me after the primary that such a competitive race would require support from all corners of the state.

I have been on the streets and served as an advocate for many organizations, including Flying Doctors of Mercy, Code Pink, Remote Area Medical, the Office of the Americas, and several other organizations that make an impact in our communities.

I have held multiple roles, including Director of Philanthropy, which has prepared me to raise funds and create community networks for numerous nonprofit organizations. Not only did I oversee funding for Meals on Wheels, but I also delivered them. I have been a motivational speaker throughout the country, training and educating others on creating unity and vision within organizations. I served on the Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools. I also consider my science education, both undergraduate and graduate degrees (UCLA), to be a valuable training ground for an objective perspective.

As a business owner for almost 20 years, I know the importance of marketing, managing staff, and creating accountability in goalsetting. I ask you to join me in progressing the party forward.
