Sam E. Hill students to attend new Lonsdale School: Meeting today!

The new school will serve students from Sam E. Hill Primary as well as Lonsdale Elementary schools.

(UPDATED from Oct. 23) KNOXVILLE, TN (Oct. 23, 2020) –  The plan for a new Lonsdale Elementary School will be shared at a meeting today, at 5:30 pm, (Thursday, Oct. 29) at Lonsdale Elementary School, 1317 Louisiana Avenue.  The open house style community meeting is for informational purposes and an opportunity for Knox County Schools to share with the public.

The public is welcome to attend the Open House-style meeting, which will include presentation boards and schematic designs, and an opportunity to discuss the project with architects, contractors and officials from KCS and Knox County government. All attendees must wear masks and follow physical distancing guidelines.

In October, 2019, the Knox County Board of Education approved a Memorandum of Understanding to transfer the Lonsdale Park property from the City of Knoxville to Knox County, for the purpose of building a new Lonsdale Elementary School. Construction on the new school is expected to begin in the spring of 2021, and the school is expected to open in the fall of 2022.
