Rev. Ronald Lacy (age 69)

Reverend Ronald Lacy lived a life that was pleasing to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He believed that as a Christian preacher, he was called to be a humble servant for the Lord and His people. Reverend Ronald Lacy was a native of Huntsville, Alabama. He was the son of the late Joe Rice and Gertrude Irene “Madea” Timmons.

He was a resident of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Detroit, Michigan. In 1973, he began working at Chrysler Corporation where he dedicated 34 years and retired in 2007.

He gave his life to Christ at the age of 12 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Oak Ridge Tennessee under the leadership of Pastor C.C. Fuller. He was called to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in 1978, under the leadership of Evangelist Annie Hill, Founder and Pastor of The Way of the Cross Church of God in Christ. He actively attended bible study, began teaching, and preaching the gospel. In 1995, the Lord led him to Greater Middle Missionary Baptist Church in Ferndale, Michigan. Under the leadership of Pastor J.H. Johnson. In 1997, He began studying with his theology teacher, Pastor Jake Gaines, Jr. at Synagogue Missionary Baptist Church. In 1997, Reverend Lacy was also a member of the Council of Ministers of Detroit, Michigan at the Family of God Missionary Baptist Church. In 1998, he united with Pastor Roger L. Hunt, Day Springs Missionary Baptist Church, Southfield, Michigan. Reverend Lacy held the office of Associate Minister and Sunday School Superintendent.

In 2018, he transitioned ministries and joined Word of Life Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee under the leadership of Dr. Robert Edward Exum, Pastor. Reverend Lacy was actively engaged in various ministry roles. On Sunday, September 27, 2020, Reverend Ronald Lacy was licensed and ordained by Dr. Robert Edward Exum, Pastor.

Reverend Lacy transitioned from this life on October 4, 2020, peacefully at home. Along with his parents, Reverend Lacy was preceded in death by his sister Nancy West; brothers, Bobby and Barry Timmons, Walter and Kevin Rice and one infant daughter, Aisha Te’re Lacy.

He leaves to celebrate his homegoing, six siblings: four brothers, Alvin Timmons, Frederick Timmons, and Wayne Timmons, Howard Rice and one sister Fern Rice. He was the proud father of three sons: Dulani Lacy (Erica), Juma Lacy (Jamyra), Khalid Lacy (Donella) and one devoted daughter, Dionne Young (Nikita). He was affectionately called “Pops”. He was the loving grandfather of eight grandchildren: Brittani, Jalyn, Jeremiyah, Ariyah, Jumiah, Damar, Emani, and Khelsi. His granddaughter, Khelsi loved reading scriptures for her PawPaw on the daily family prayer call. Reverend Lacy’s promotion to heaven leaves many cherished family members and a host of devoted friends to celebrate his legacy.

Saturday, October 10, 2020, a public walkthrough visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 195 Wilberforce Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN. A funeral service to follow with Pastor Exum as the eulogist.  Social distancing and face masks are required. Entombment will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park where a white dove release will conclude the service. During this time, we will remain in compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order #17 (COVID-19).
