R. Terry Weaver, Jr. (age 36)

Robert Terry Weaver Jr. was born in Knoxville, TN to Robert Terry Weaver Sr. and Millie-Yvonne Brown on June 14, 1984. Terry grew up in Oak Ridge as the eldest son and big brother to his sister, Anniece.

Terry made lifelong friends while attending Oak Ridge schools. During those years, he was a member of Spurgeon Chapel A.M.E Zion Church and served as the drummer for the praise choir. He loved the outdoors and mountain biking throughout area trails.

Terry enjoyed many outdoor activities with the Boy Scouts of America, where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2003. For his Eagle Scout project, Terry constructed a Walking Bridge at Oak Ridge Arboretum that continues to be enjoyed by visitors.

He built a successful career in Computer Drafting and Design and utilized his diverse skills in Auto CAD to work for engineering companies in both Knoxville and Nashville. Terry was without a doubt the most creative and innovative member of his family.

Terry had a never-ending love affair with music. He was soft-spoken but spoke volumes through music. Well-known throughout East Tennessee as an exceptional drummer, Terry performed with Secret City Ciphers, Secret City Sewer Monsters, One in a Row Band, Midnight Trust, and many others. A friend described him as “either the most extroverted person from a planet of introverts, or the most introverted person from a planet of extroverts!” He got a kick out of that. He developed lifelong friendships within the music community but will be missed most by bandmembers and friends Caleb Lewis, Duncan Hammonds, Michael Husley, Trent Manning, and Ian McInroe.

Terry passed away following an automobile accident on October 10, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Terry Weaver Sr., grandmothers, Annie Mae Weaver, Deloris Brooks Carter. He is survived by his mother, Millie-Yvonne (Steve) Brown; Sister, Anniece Nichelle Easley (Blake); Aunts, Rose Weaver and Tina (Wayne) Middleton; Uncles Leroy Jones and George (Pamela) Sias. Special cousins, HJ Middleton, Delora North, Kase, and Daily will cherish his memory along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Saturday, October 17, 2020, a public walkthrough visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.at Oak Valley Baptist Church, 194 Hampton Road, Oak Ridge, TN.  Social distancing and face masks are required. Graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with Reverend Churchill Moore as the eulogist. A white dove release will conclude the service.
