Farmers To Families Food Boxes of Meat, milk, and cheese continues on Fridays

UPDATE: This program of the Federal government was stopped in October after 3 weeks.
KNOXVILLE, TN (October 2020) – This Friday, October 23rd, a “Farmers To Families Food” truck will again deliver at least 1,500 Food Boxes to New Hope Baptist Church, 2504 Cecil Avenue, Knoxville, TN for distribution at 10 am Friday morning until gone.
Each box will contain family-sized portions of cooked meat, milk, cheese, fresh vegetables, and fruit. The box contains perishable dairy items and requires immediate refrigeration if not immediately consumed.
The first distribution was on Friday, October 2nd, and are planned to continue in the coming weeks until further notice.
A dedicated crew of ministry members and volunteers will distribute Food Boxes this Friday, October 23, at 10 am to 12 noon, or until all boxes have been distributed.
On a previous Friday, 1,500 Food Boxes each contained 2 roasted chickens, a gallon of milk, cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese, 5lbs of potatoes, apples, 2lbs of carrots, and more. The contents of future Food Boxes will vary based on farmer’s available and seasonal crops.
You only need to drive up and drive-thru the well-organized parking lot corral at New Hope Church on Cecil Street to get a food box.
You don’t have to get out of the car! The volunteers and men in ministry will put your Food Box in your vehicle – no questions asked. There is no prequalification, ID, or registration required.
This is an emergency food distribution intended for those in need and those who are the victims of our current conditions. There are so many more citizens in need of food, which includes the many who have been unexpectedly unemployed, low-wage earners, the working poor, families with children, and established professionals whose employers have had to close, and many more unexpected victims. Please be considerate.
- Don’t take more than you need;
- If you are not in need then leave it or give it to someone who is;
- Do not return for a second or third pick-up round.
The “Farmers To Families Food” Truck is sponsored by the National Baptist Convention and distributed locally in partnership with volunteers and members of the Knoxville Interdenominational Christian Ministers Alliance, aka KICMA.
