Rose A Spears (age 82)

Rose Andrewena Nash Spears was born on November 25, 1937 a Thanksgiving Day in Knoxville Tn. to her late parents Rupert Nash and Elaine Daniels. She resided in Knoxville until she was called to her Heavenly home on September 20, 2020 at 1am.

Rose was a graduate of Austin High School and Knoxville College where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She also was a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.

Rose worked over 35 years at Y-12 Nuclear Plant in Oak Ridge Tn. She was a member or NOBCChE where she worked closely prepping and traveling with local high school students who participated in Scholar’s Bowls. She also served as an advisor to the Archonettes of Zeta Phi Beta and the Episcopal Young Church members. After her retirement in 1994 she started volunteering with the FISH food pantries and eventually became the Coordinator of the East Knoxville Hospitality Pantry. She was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Rose was a devoted mother not only to her children but to everyone and was given the moniker Mama Rose. Rose was a dedicated sister and friend and mentor. She was devoted to family that extended beyond blood relations.

With her parents, she is preceded in death by her Stepfather Rev. E.A. Daniels. Sisters; Ruth Sutton and Jennifer Solomon. Nephew Rupert Wright, Niece Cheryl Clark, Grandson Christopher Melton, and Ex-husband Bruce Spears.

Left to cherish her memories is her sister Marion Frazier, her children; sons Joseph Spears and Dwayne Boykins, daughters Robyn Mathews and Tricia Melton and bonus children James, Tony, Jennifer, and Timothy Melton.

Also to cherish her memories are her grandchildren DeLorean Epps, Shamaine Wilson, Walter (Rashni) Spears, Brittney (Chantijia) Melton, Jalisha Spears, Elaina Spears, Brianna Chandler, Isiah Walker, and Jasmine Lofton and Mason Bomar

Great-grandchildren; Reniyah Tompkins, Jahmias Hull, JourHighness Melton, and Angel Rose Batey.

She also leaves 6 nieces and 3 nephews that include devoted nieces Tonia Hackler and Jennifer Clark. Also devoted caregivers and loved ones Jennifer Cornett and Michael Young.

Saturday, October 24, 2020 a Celebration of Life will take place at 1pm at Holston River Park Knoxville Tn.
