Free breakfast and lunch for all KCS students

Knoxville, TN (Sept. 5, 2020) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently provided districts with an optional, new flexibility that will allow KCS to temporarily provide free breakfast and lunch to all students, regardless of income status or school attended.

Our district has opted to take advantage of this flexibility, and it will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8, for all KCS students.

This federally funded initiative will end no later than Dec. 31, 2020, and could end sooner depending on funding availability. KCS will continue accepting free and reduced-price meal applications, given the temporary nature of this program. students who previously used a PIN or scan card will continue to do so.

Students in virtual learning must contact their base school to receive meals. Families of these students can register at; www.knoxschools.org/mealsrequest.
