Tennessee Lady Vol's Head basketball Coach (deceased) Pat Head Summitt was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012 by former Pres. Barack Obama and was also a recipient of the KAWE Notable Woman award.

KAWE Seeking Nominees for 2020 Notable Woman Award

Knoxville Association of Women Executives Accepting Nominations of Notable Woman for the 2020 Lucy Webb Gibson Award through August 2020.

CAPTION: Past recipients of the KAWE Notable Woman Award include Knoxville’s first woman Chief of Police Eve Thomas, the most wins in basketball history Tennessee Lady Vols Head Coach Pat Summitt, 1,098 career wins, the most in college basketball history upon her retirement., and Knoxville’s first woman Mayor Madeline Rogero.

KNOXVILLE, TN (April 25, 2020) The Knoxville Association of Women Executives (KAWE) annually recognizes one outstanding woman who has affected the strategic direction of an organization, contributed to her community, and maintained a life balance in a profession, business, charity, creative art, or sport. KAWE honors each year’s Notable Woman with a fall luncheon and a donation to her charity of choice. Past award winners include Chancellor Sharon J. Bell, Coach Pat Summitt, and Mayor Madeline Rogero. The nominating process is open to anyone in the greater Knoxville area. Self-nomination is not acceptable.
