Bessie Mae Jackson (age 77)
KNOXVILLE, TN – Bessie Mae Jackson, age 77, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 4, 2020. She was born June 2, 1942 in Newberry, SC. Accepting Christ in 1962, she was a life-long member of Peace & Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church. Bessie loved the Lord, her family, friends, and church family. She was a people-person who enjoyed helping others. Her caring spirit lead her to work in the healthcare field, retiring from the University of Tennessee Medical Center after serving for forty-one years. Following retirement, she worked with Unity and Patton Funeral Homes.
Preceded in death by parents, Archie Lee Young and Andreana P. Young; son, Keith A. Davis; daughters, Andreana D. Davis, and Janice R. Davis.
Survived by devoted children, James L. (Pamela) Davis, Kenneth W. (Pamela) Davis, and Cynthia A. Howard; grandchildren, James L. Davis, Jr., John A. Davis, Kennyse M. Davis, Camyron C. Davis, Kalynn G. Davis, Kenneth W. Davis, Jr., Kaleb C. Davis, Brittni N. Austin, and Bryce A. Howard; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Willie J. (Lillian) Young; adopted brothers, Ronald and Donald Cline, Eugene Johnson, adopted sisters, Ruby Tobe, and Glenda Johnson; a host of nieces and nephews; and special devoted friend and families, John W. Davis, the Davis, Bailey, Linder, and Ferguson families.
Special thanks to her caregiver, Kendra Wolfe of Home Instead, Peace & Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church family and friends, and the University of Tennessee Medical Center Hospice Services.
Saturday, May 9, 2020, family and friends may view from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Peace & Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, 1723 Washington Avenue, Knoxville, TN where there will be limited capacity and social distancing in place. A private graveside will follow with Reverend John B. Jordan. During this time, we will remain in compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order #17 (COVID-19).
