Oak Ridge, TN – Mrs. Willie Mae Sutton Yancy answered the call of her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 10, 2020 while resting peacefully at her home, surrounded by love ones. Willie Mae Sutton entered this life on June 07, 1927 to the union of Mr. George (Ola) Sutton.
At a young age, she wed her loving husband Willie C. Yancy, whom she shared over 30 years of marriage and seven beautiful children with, until his passing.
Mrs. Willie Mae Yancy, affectionately known as Mother Yancy, was a very devoted and loving follower of Christ. Mother Yancy loved the Lord and lived a life as a witness displaying the love of God. A faithful member and Mother of True Light Missionary Baptist Church, she loved teaching and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Mother Yancy was a true servant in every sense of the word. She was a Sunday School Teacher, President of the Senior Choir, member of the Willing Workers and the Missionary Department.
She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and caring for others. Mother Yancy loved her family and her beloved church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. We will always remember a conversation never ended without a sweet “I love you.”
She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, James Lewis Yancy and Eddie Junior Yancy; grandson, Michael Yancy; her parents and her siblings, all whom she adored.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving, loyal, and dedicated daughters, Ms. Mary J. Yancy of Oak Ridge, TN, Ms. Betty S. Cheeseman of Aurora, CO; and Ms. Rosie Yancy of Atlanta, GA; sons, Pastor John (Althea) Yancy of Goose Creek, SC; and Reverend Charles (Maria) Yancy of Knoxville, TN; a host of loving, caring, and devoted grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; honorary daughters, Ms. Patricia Thomas, Ms. Delores Cole, Ms. Sarah Douglas, and Mrs. Tina Porter; special friends, Mrs. Emma Sutton, Mrs. Ora McKinnon, Mrs. Jesse Hardaway, Mrs. Deborah Booker, Mr. Gary (Pat) Henderson, Mr. Johnnie (Pam) Skinner, Reverend Jeff (Sandra) Jefferson, and Mrs. Gwen Kirkland.

Friday, February 14, 2020, the family will receive friends from 11a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at True Light Missionary Baptist Church, 3229 George Light Road, Knoxville, TN. Elder Darris W. Waters, Sr. officiating.
Interment will immediately follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, 1501 Bethel Valley Road, Oak Ridge, TN, where a white dove release will conclude the service.
