The Stranger at My Door Became My Candidate

There I was, recently retired, new to Knoxville and working hard on the house I’d just bought: when the doorbell rang. I know, you shouldn’t open the door to strangers, but I did it anyway – I hadn’t talked to anybody all day…

The stranger at my door turned out to be Marshall Stair, walking my neighborhood to introduce himself as a candidate for Knoxville’s next mayor. As we chatted at my front door, I began to realize that he was the candidate I’d dreamed of: experienced in local politics after eight years on the City Council, promoting economic opportunities for all Knoxvillians, recognizing diversity as a strength, and appreciating walkability as an asset for all of our communities.

While he’s a native Knoxvillian, his life experiences living in and experiencing different cultures and gaining fluency in Spanish have led him to appreciate the power of understanding our neighbors and working together to create opportunities for all of us.

We deserve Marshall’s commitment to making Knoxville a stronger, more vibrant and interesting city. If you’d like to help Marshall become our next mayor, volunteer to help and make it happen.

Please join me and vote for Marshall Stair for Mayor on August 27.

Sincerely,
Liz Ehr
