USCIS celebrates Independence Day by welcoming nearly 7,500 new citizens
(KNOXVILLE, TN) U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) presented 129 citizenship candidates to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee during a special naturalization ceremony on July 3. Chief U.S. District Judge Pamela L. Reeves administered the Oath of Allegiance. The 129 citizenship candidates originated from 48 countries.
USCIS celebrated the Declaration of Independence and the birth of our country by welcoming about 7,500 new citizens in nearly 110 naturalization ceremonies across the country between July 1 and July 5. The naturalization ceremonies were held in venues across the country and included several notable ceremonies. Acting Director Kenneth Cuccinelli delivered congratulatory remarks to 52 new Americans at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum on July 2, while that same day, Deputy Director Mark Koumans delivered congratulatory remarks to the new citizens at a ceremony on board the USS Constitution.
USCIS invites new citizens and their families and friends to share their experiences and photos from the ceremonies on social media using the hashtags #newUScitizen, #4thofJuly and #IndependenceDay.
